Monica Larner, the Italian editor of Wine Advocate, the most influential international wine review magazine in the world, founded by Robert Parker reviewd the Chianti Classico and Toscana IGT from Radda in Chianti. Cantina Castelvecchi wines achieved great scores, a result that makes us very proud, rewarding the choices of “uncompromising” viticulture of Casa Paladin, expressed at the highest level between these hills of Tuscany.
Solana 2015 – Toscana IGT Castelvecchi has been awarded with 93 points by Monica Larner.
“A sunny blend of Merlot, Sangiovese and Syrah, the 2015 Premiata Fattoria di Castelvecchi Solana is a full-bodied and generous Tuscan red from a warm vintage. The wine opens to dark fruit, bold cherry, blackberry, spice and sweet tobacco. It is texturally rich, soft and round to the very last sip. Here’s a great opportunity to sample a collection of typically Tuscan charcuterie, from prosciutto della Garfagnana to a classic capocollo.”
Madonnino della Pieve Chianti Classico Gran Selezione 2015 Castelvecchi has been awarded with 92 points by Monica Larner.
“Opening to dark color and thick concentration, the 2015 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Premiata Fattoria di Castelvecchi Madonnino della Pieve is essentially a great steak wine. It oozes forth with black fruit, cherry confit and blackberry preserves, and those ripe fruit tones are quickly followed by sweet baking spice, campfire ash and soft potting soil. This is a full-bodied Tuscan red with a touch of crushed black pepper on the close.”
Madonnino della Pieve Chianti Classico Gran Selezione 2013 Castelvecchi has been awarded with 91 points by Monica Larner.
“The 2013 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Premiata Fattoria di Castelvecchi Madonnino della Pieve shows the elegance of its age without letting up on the freshness and identity of its fruit. This is a rich and velvety wine with dark plum and black currant that segue to concentrated and oak-driven aromas of tobacco, leather and sweet baking spice. The wine tapers out on the finish to reveal a polished, mid-weight impact. This wine is ready to drink now with an aged-cheese platter.”
Lodolaio 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva Castelvecchi has been awarded with 91 points by Monica Larner.
“This is a soft and richly textured full-bodied red to pair with stewed wild boar, or cinghiale in umido. The 2016 Chianti Classico Riserva Premiata Fattoria di Castelvecchi Lodolaio is packed tight and loaded with ripe fruit, pressed cherry and dark plum. The wine shows a sweet note with baking spice, cinnamon and barbecue smoke.”
